VIA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE PROJECTS & TASKS

During the first two years of studies in VIA University College I have gained a lot of knowledge. This is where and when I have gained the main skills and professional attitude which I am presenting everyday. Here I had a few of my favorite projects which I would like to share with you.

Idea Creation Project - DMCopenhagen

The following project after Design for Change was Idea Creation - The Creation of Individual Business based on personal means. This have been very excited and very confusing project. It was hard to choose one Idea from all thousand that I have in my mind. I decided to follow my interest and experience.Therefore, I have started the creation process of Design Market Copenhagen.

DMC is concept in between of Pop-Up store, Fashion Fair and Fashion Competition. It carries a great opportunities for upcoming and young (1-3) year existing Fashion Brands. The project Concept and Business Generation is running after end of the project.

Design for Change with Herning Municipality.

Soon after start of 5th semester in BA Top-Up our class have participated in Social Entrepreneurship project / competition to solve an existing problem in Municipality of which we are a part - Herning citizens. The main focus was on Holtbjerg area citizens well-being improvement. We have been working in groups formed from our class. One of our classmate - graphic Designer Alexander Moroz have came up with Social Online platform "Collective.Holbjerg" (Behnace project link is linked to Collective Logotype). We all five have been working on business profile of the idea and Idea Generation and Improvement.

Collective. aims to connect people within a social group and exchange their skills in order to help each other. Page offers events, citizens profiles regarding their skills and professional profile that will be available to employers.

Best part of project? We have been chosen by 15 juries as second place winners. Our group have received Start-Up first capital and full access to Innovatorium Herning. Nailed it!

AP Degree Exam
Based on Stereo Studio

 

After 4 semesters in AP Degree for Final Exam Object I have chosen Stereo Studio Retail Chain. The reason why I have chosen them - They had actual problem, I have belonged to Target Group and I had personal connections from SS Shops.

To solve the main problem "How to gain back customers of Age 15 – 25 back to Stereo Studio?" I have raised three Sub-Questions which are answered using Target Group, Positioning Card and TOWS Matrix and Business Module Canvas.

The research for the Exam was made mostly using Internet provided information - articles about Stereo Studio Retail Performance, reports about Danish shopping habits. To recognise some facts, Silkeborg Department Manager have helped me during Exam writing period.

After answering the Sub Question the Problem have been solved in conclusion of Exam Paper.

Visual Merchandising "Anthropologie" Window Display

 

Within Elective 2nd course in third semester I have chosen Visual Merchandising. It was a very good revision of the previous (first) knowledge about Visual Merchandising. The final task after the course was to introduce the mood board for the Window Display and Create the Instore Design and Window Display Design Individualy. I have chosen the Anthropologie store due to impressive store concept and the mother Brand - Urban Outfitters. My personal goal was to create a feminine look to Display and since Anthropologie brand has the Interior Deco line in the production - combine fashion design with interior design. After this course I have got certificate of the Visual Merchandising course.

Electives
Adobe: Ps, AI, Dw

 

Within Elective 1st course in third semester I have chosen Adobe Programs for Begginers. Since I had high interest of learning how to use the programs, I have ejoyed the courses very much. I have gained new technical skills.

Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop course task was to create a bag collection using unusual patterns. I have created teh whole concept of Urban Bags under my created collaboration label "KB Bags". I have used the bag pattern inspirations from Lithuanian Brand "Tashe Tashe"

For Dreaweaver course task we have to create a website on a free topic. I have decided to combine both courses and create a website for my "KB Bags" Brand Collaboration but this time to include another existing Lithuanian Brand "Le Muse".

Retail Design task "Shoe Box"

 

Our task was to identify brand concept and to create shop interior design with given shop space. I was very exciting for me because I have chosen the brand with which I would like to work in future. I have chosen brand which is applied for a wide target group and occurs mostly in urban fashion. I tried to combine different materials and to apply Scandinavian design. I gained knowledge how to apply the concept and how to create the design more appealing for consumer. I gained knowledge about shop layout and the introduction to Visual Merchandising. I have applied my hand sketching and drawing skills which I have got in architecture school. What is more, I have learned color theory and how it affects human. 

Brand ID Project
 
Our task was to choose a company from another line of business. We had to decode the company’s image and values. Students should account for all the elements that are relevant to making good product design. We had developed and communicated the concept and the function of the product in relation to brand and company. We had opportunity to design the stand for the brand and to design clothing regarding to our concept of brand.
We got opportunity to work in workshops. It was very nice to actually work with wood material.  I have gained the experience of making stand and how to manage the brand presentation.
I also gained experience how to work on design project with people from different specialties.
PBL module 1: Visual Merchandising

 

I have chosen this assignment because I really enjoyed completing it. The task was to create a brochure of Windows Displays styles guide. We had to use our three most common outfits: casual, dress-up and dress-down within creating the Style Guide. Within this task I gained insight how create the Visual Merchandising orders for any brand. I have learned the rules exist for setting the Show Windows displays. I also have learned how to describe styles. I used my previous skills of Adobe Photoshop program to edit photos from photoshoot.

Visual Merchandising 1st task

 

After the introduction of Visual Merchandising – design, concept, rules, props usage we have got the design task – to choose the brand and create the Window display for the brand. As the production for display we had to use our own clothes, accessories. I was really excited about this task. It was the first actual Design task for us Retail Designers. It was interesting to stand as an fashion designer (matching our clothes between accessories to show the chosen brand concept) and Visual Merchandising professional (showing ability in usage of props and the production for display crae the display attractive for consumers).
